Quay
The 200 m deep-water reinforced-concrete quay is equipped with utility services. The berth and mooring arrangement are agreed for each vessel.
Harbour Waters and Mooring Equipment
Water depths and tidal conditions do not guarantee the permissible draught of a particular vessel. Current navigational information, under-keel clearance and the mooring plan are confirmed before arrival. A bollard's SWL must not be confused with the range of the separate Bollard Pull test facility.
| Parameter | Infrastructure Details |
|---|---|
| Depths alongside the quay | 14–22 m according to the infrastructure assessment |
| Latest sounding survey cited in the assessment | 26 April 2026 |
| Tidal range cited in the assessment | 2.4 m |
| Mooring bollard | SWL 80 t; dimensions 750 × 650 × 600 mm |
Shore Power Supply
Shore power options are shown. The connection arrangement and available load are agreed with the electrical department before work begins.
| Voltage | Frequency | Current | Power |
|---|---|---|---|
| 380 V | 50 Hz | 1,000 A | 600 kW |
| 400–440 V | 60 Hz | 800 A | 500 kW |

Dedicated Berth for Jack-Up Rigs
ASABA Shipyard has prepared a dedicated 180-metre berth to accommodate and repair jack-up drilling rigs. Water and electricity connections, wastewater reception facilities and the necessary shoreside infrastructure are in place.
The berth is equipped with Yokohama-type pneumatic fenders measuring 4.5 metres in diameter and 10 metres in length, as well as access gangways. A crane with a lifting capacity of 300 tonnes is available for cargo handling, repair and installation work.
The firefighting infrastructure includes two independent fire pump stations. A shipyard-owned tug with the Fire Fighting Ship 1 classification remains on standby near the berth, equipped for firefighting with a water delivery capacity of 2,400 m³/h and a Water Spray system.
A fast rescue boat is stationed at the berth on 24/7 standby, ready for rapid deployment at any time of day or night.
Office buildings and spaces are provided on the shipyard premises for customer representatives.

Dedicated Shoreside Area — 10,000 m²
An open area is dedicated to equipment storage and repair work for drilling rigs. Equipment layout, working areas and yard logistics are agreed with the project team.
Certified Access Gangways — 2 × 50 m
For personnel access during repairs to drilling rigs, ASABA has two aluminium access gangways, each 50 m long. Each gangway has its own ClassNK certificate and consists of five 10 m sections.
| Parameter for Each Gangway | Specification |
|---|---|
| Length | 50 m |
| Structural width | 1.5 m |
| Structural height | 3.5 m |
| Section arrangement | 5 × 10 m |
| Load-bearing structure material | Aluminium alloy (5A05) LF5 |
| Steps / decking | Fixed steps; fibreglass |
| Operating angle per manufacturer's documentation | 0–30° |

Project-Specific Conditions
The scope of work, equipment availability, work location and classification society requirements are agreed for each rig. Management system certificates do not constitute universal authorisation for all types of RIGS repairs.
Vessel and Crew Support
- Supply of fuel, compressed air and drinking water.
- Office space and internet access for project support.
- Personnel accommodation options.
- Video surveillance at the shipyard.
- Visa assistance for technical specialists, surveyors and crew members supporting projects.
Tug Assistance
The shipyard's own fleet includes four tugs: two with 68 t bollard pull, one with 20 t and one with 8 t. The assistance package and vessel movement plan are agreed during work preparation.
Bollard Pull Testing
ASABA's test facility is used to measure vessel bollard pull. The equipment includes a dynamometer rated at 200 t and two G2140 shackles with a CCS certificate and SWL 200 t. The permissible load of the test arrangement is agreed for each vessel.
Deliveries for Vessels Under Repair
Spare parts can be delivered to Malabo by sea in containers or by air. The route and delivery terms are agreed before shipment.
Customs Clearance Assistance
ASABA assists with customs clearance for spare parts intended for vessels undergoing repairs at the shipyard.
Technical parameters are provided for preliminary assessment. Suitability for a particular vessel, equipment item and project is confirmed by the shipyard when agreeing the work.
