Diving Team and ROV

ASABA's underwater services team has divers and an ROV for underwater work. The team works on hulls, propellers, rudders, thrusters and underwater external equipment. Diver involvement and ROV use are determined by the programme for each operation.

Surveys and Inspection

  • Underwater inspection of the hull, sea chests, propellers, rudders and equipment, with a report based on the visual inspection.
  • Inspection of underwater structures and steel legs of Jack-Up rigs alongside the quay.
  • Ultrasonic residual thickness measurements to an agreed programme.
  • UWILD surveys — underwater inspection in lieu of drydocking, where this approach is agreed by the classification society.
  • Defect assessment and associated underwater work to prevent incidents or repair sea valves, shaft lines, thrusters and propellers.
  • Measurement of bearing clearances.
  • Visual inspection of seals.

Maintenance and Repairs

  • Installation and maintenance of underwater mooring system components.
  • Work on sea valves and fittings: valve replacement and cleaning of openings and intake gratings.
  • Anode replacement and sealing of openings.
  • Underwater cutting and welding (This service will be available soon).
  • Work on propellers and thrusters, including removal using an agreed procedure.
  • Seal clearance measurements.

Underwater Cleaning

Operation Planning

Before work begins, the location, depth, equipment access and safe working conditions are agreed. The feasibility of each operation is confirmed after reviewing the asset. For class-supervised work, the programme, applicable approvals and attendance of the classification society’s representative are agreed separately.
